Introduction to Surgical Technology

Get started with the fundamental principles and skills necessary to assist surgeons during surgical procedures. This module will cover topics such as sterile techniques, surgical instrumentation, patient positioning, and surgical procedures. You will also gain knowledge about maintaining a safe and sterile surgical environment, understanding surgical equipment and supplies, and effectively communicating and collaborating with the surgical team.

Diagnostics, Infection Control & Sterilization

Learn essential knowledge and skills related to diagnosing common medical conditions, implementing infection control measures, and ensuring proper sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment. The training will cover topics such as diagnostic tests, laboratory procedures, infection prevention protocols, and sterilization techniques. You will also gain proficiency in handling and maintaining sterile instruments, understanding the principles of aseptic technique, and effectively preventing and controlling infections in surgical settings.

Treating the Surgical Patient

This module will cover topics such as patient assessment, preoperative preparation, intraoperative support, and postoperative care. You will also gain proficiency in assisting with anesthesia administration, monitoring patient vital signs, preparing the surgical environment, and ensuring patient safety throughout the surgical process.

Surgical Skills

You'll learn a wide range of surgical skills necessary for assisting surgeons during procedures. The bootcamp will cover topics such as sterile technique, surgical instrument identification and handling, wound closure techniques, and surgical site preparation. You will also gain proficiency in assisting with surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile field, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, and effectively managing surgical instruments and equipment.

Are there travel requirements?

No, the bootcamp is 100% online. If you choose to participate in an optional apprenticeship or on-site job training, travel may be required.

No, our bootcamps require students to be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.

Can I get a job in healthcare after completing a bootcamp?

More About ULRICH NKOU SEMBE

I am currently working as a Surgical Technologist in the US Army and have also been employed at a hospital in Houston for the past four years. I received training from military experts, which has given me valuable experience both as a military member and in a civilian healthcare setting. I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in molecular biology at the University of Houston Downtown with the ultimate goal of becoming a Medical Doctor. I am also nationally certified by the Surgical Tech Board, and I can provide guidance on studying techniques, surgical tech coaching, and career advancement in the field
